OUR STORY
Zhi Studios started as a simple place to showcase creative outputs to the wider public. Our collection was not created with the intention of turning a profit but was instead created in the pursuit of creativity.
We believe in doing things right. This often means you’ll see traditional woodworking techniques in our collection that you won’t see in items that are mass produced. Working in small runs allows us to maintain quality, experiment with materials, and ensure every piece has a story of its own
As Zhi Studios grows, our aim is to expand our reach to allow more creatives to showcase their work, staying true to our ethos: a home for honest craft.
WHAT'S IN THE NAME?
The name Zhi comes from the Chinese language and means will, purpose and ambition. It reflects our founders Teochew heritage. It is tradition that each generation in a family is given a name that comes from their generational poem; each generation takes the next word in the poem. Zhi is my generation’s word.
MEET STEFAN
Stefan lives in the United Kingdom with his wife, Amy, and their daughter, Ivy. He began his career in research and development, becoming a chartered engineer and eventually moved into property development. In 2025, Stefan started Zhi Studios as a way to showcase the things he loved.
